Six years in Canada. Today, I’m running for Whistler Council

Six years ago today, I arrived in Canada.

I came with two suitcases, a work permit, and no idea how much my life was about to change.

I came directly to Whistler, and over the last six years this community became much more than the place where I lived and worked. It became home.

This summer, I became a Canadian citizen. And just a few days ago, I received my first Canadian passport.

Today, on my six-year anniversary in Canada, I’m proud to share another important step in my journey:

I am officially running for Whistler Council in the 2026 municipal election.

I’ve also launched this campaign website, where you can learn more about me, why I’m running, and the six priorities I want to bring into the conversation:

I’m also launching a campaign page on Facebook, where I’ll share updates, ideas, upcoming events, and opportunities to connect throughout the campaign.

This campaign starts with something simple: listening to the people who call Whistler home.

Ivan is here. To listen. To work for Whistler.
